Baltimore-based composer and bassist Jack McGrath finds his primary inspiration in soundtracks and incorporates elements from all kinds of genres in his work. He’s been a composition student of Linda Dusman, Sam Garrett, and Matt Belzer, and studied jazz bass with Tom Baldwin. Before graduating in 2024, he wrote scores for up-and-coming animation and film students at UMBC. Jack was also commissioned by the Baltimore Classical Guitar Society for a piece that was premiered with 3 other composers in March 2025. Outside of academia, he plays in rock/indie bands Fly by the Seat and Michael.
